IMaSS Emerging Contaminants Day

28 April 2026

Food Contact Center - Via del Redolone 65, Loc. Ponte Stella, Serravalle Pistoiese PT

This event is the third in the ““IMaSS Emerging Contaminants Day” series, following the online day dedicated to PPCPs (Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products) on September 22, 2021, and the PFAS workshop in Bologna on September 15, 2022. Applications and analytical protocols for the analysis of “Food Contact Materials” will be presented, with a focus on regulatory aspects.

In today's world, there is increasing attention to the quality of our surroundings, starting with the environment and the food we consume, both of which are very important for our health. Accurate monitoring of all environmental matrices is carried out very effectively using the analytical tools available to professionals. Equally effective is the control of food, to prevent its contamination by pesticide residues, drugs used in livestock growth cycles, and so on. The air we breathe, the water we drink and come into contact with on a daily basis, and the food we eat require great attention to our safety.

To complete what we might call ‘the food safety chain’, it is also necessary to monitor everything that comes into contact with food: packaging materials, cooking appliances, etc. must be checked to prevent them from releasing hazardous substances.
